Traditional House, Hampshire

The original dwelling had been formed by the conversion of a stable block connected to the main house by a developer when they divided up an old manor house into three dwellings. However, this meant the location of the front door to our client’s property was confusing and many people ended up at the back door. We were asked to rethink the whole layout of the house and to provide an additional bedroom. The two-storey extension provides a new clear entrance and hallway together with a ground floor toilet while on the first floor there is a new master bedroom. The extension replaces the original front porch which use to face into the garden. As the garden was precious to their growing family the brief included the fact that no garden was to be lost so the first floor oversails the footpath to the rear private garden.
